Hello everyone, especially my Premium Content subscribers.
I’m producing a new YouTube video series for the summer, Medieval Sweet Things. In it there will be dishes from around the medieval world, all of them sweet treats for those days when you feel like being a little naughty and a wee bit experimental, too.
Unfortunately, the creation of the series has been slowed down by life’s events. The last few weeks, when I was hoping to get more filming done, have been very busy with helping Ray, my partner and camera-sound-lighting man, sort out the care needs of his mum. It has been very stressful at times, as I’m sure you can imagine, but finally we have a new home for mum, where her rather complex nursing needs can be taken care of.
So, the hope is that as mum settles in we may be able to find the time over the next month or so to finish the recipe development, filming and editing. Poor Ray has unfortunately become ill with shingles (no doubt the stress), so he needs to get better first, but hopefully we can get ourselves up and running soon.
In the meantime, I’m conscious that those of you who support my work with a monthly subscription should have something for your kindness and patience. So here is the introduction to one of the dishes in the new series: Festikes, or pistachio toffee tarts! So so scrumptious!
The cool ‘medievalesque’ music on the video is by multi-genre musician Kevin MacLeod.

Oh no! Besides the Mum issues, shingles is just the worst. Best wishes for Ray and looking forward to seeing you back on ‘the air’ when everything’s is sorted.

Thank you! Trying to be patient. Ray’s having to see an eye doctor as the shingles have affected his eye. Waiting now at the hospital. 😬

Oohâ¦sorry to hear about the family troubles and illnesses. Gosh. Taking care of parents as they age is difficult, emotional, complex. Sending lots of love and understanding your way. And OMG sorry about Rayâs shingles. Dreadful, from what friends have said. Hope he recovers quickly. Love you both! â¤
And darlinâ, Iâll buy you a coffee any day of the week, whether you âpay upâ or not. Read me some translations and Iâll be happy. ð â¤
